Immortal Rose...

Immortal Rose...

My reflection, once pure,
Was clouded by shadows today.
The sky of prayer and faith
Darkened with violent clouds.

Ravana’s penance was deep,
Yet he never equaled Rama.
Karna gave away his armor smiling—
But falsehood never claimed victory.

The moment I stepped into the garden,
A radiant white rose, smiling with spirituality,
Tried to show me the path of detachment.
But my veins burned hotter with impure thoughts.

The schemes of extremist friends
Had failed many times before,
Yet today the sun seemed to be mine…
I compared that selfless, laughing rose
With a mighty black gun, full of pride.

With cruel steps and hollow pride,
I took aim without hesitation.
Bullets thundered, piercing
The soul of selfless truth.

Blood splattered on the shining rose,
Yet even wounded, it glowed brighter.
The crowd chanting “Ram Ram,”
My false existence dissolved.

But truth’s form endured—
Immortal, eternal, unbroken.

P. S. Gandhi, history, society, me & us.
